The Sound of Happiness

Sometimes you just come across a track that has so much to offer you fall in love with it straight away. High Contrast seems to deliver such tracks on a regular basis and upon listening to Hospital Records podcast 85 I downloaded Adele, Hometown Glory (High Contrast Remix) in anticipation of the forthcoming Confidential album.

One word, BIG! Get on itunes now!

Woof woof!

So last weekend it was my birthday, it was a pretty chilled affair compared to last years mash up. Probably for the best considering the state of things at the moment with work being busy both at uni and Apple. Anyway a few beers on Friday night, a chilled day Saturday with work for four hours followed by some scary bouldering with Bon which I loved. On Sunday a few of us went to the Notty house and had some pies, there was a cool folk jam going on so I was really happy we went. A great weekend despite a few notable absences, but I'll be seeing you guys soon believe that x

There is quite a lot of exciting stuff happening at the moment, I got a place on the Genius training scheme at work which means I'll be more and more involved with the technical side of things, something I've been super keen to get into. Then come July I'll have a short break from work so that I can bring "Meander", a 40ft classic boat belonging to my friend back to Falmouth from Maine in the USA. I seem to alternate between excitement and and nervousness, although I think this is a good thing because to view such a trip lightly would be foolish. It's 3100miles so we'll be at sea for around a month.

As well as all these treats my folks have got a new dog called Fudge, he's ever so nice and although he's young and excitable, he is super chilled once he knows who you are. I don't doubt he's going to be an awesome dog to have around the place and I'll be looking after him through August so I'm looking forward to that. Here is a photo of him Phil took last week.

The work is full on at the moment with my project write up but I'm trying to do it each day so I have evenings clear for fun stuff, no doubt it'll ramp up even more though soon. With the evenings getting lighter and lighter I'm able to ride and climb a bit in the evenings which is the best really, I love it when summer comes.

Because I'm slack I never update this thing so I managed to miss out any sort of France '09 report. Not much needs to be said except it was RAD, if a little windy for a day or two. We missed my most mainest man and heavy hitter DC. No doubt he'd have being doing fully clicked bar turns and putting his seatpost up and down all the time with his euro clamp so the French missed out, but it aint like they've never seen action like that before... next time brother. There is an edit in the making and I'll make an effort to work on it over easter so stand by to get hit hard by that. For now take in the sky and think about hitting the trails in the evening sun, picture below by Joey Gough. Table by AT.

Blogs Re-Visited

Long time no post, as is standard for me. The other day I got an e-mail from a relative of mine who lives in New York. Susan has started a blog all about her family so we can be kept in the loop. This is great news because the Atlantic provides a slight obstacle for us just nipping over to see them every now and then so it'll be nice to be on the update. As a result I've decided to try and be more pro-active with mine. We shall see about that one. Anyway check it out here mindandmatter.vox.com

So over the last few months lots has happened. I've moved into a new house in Broom Hill for those of you that know Sheffield. It's all good, good peeps and a good location. Crap washing machine but we'll gloss over that... At the start of the summer me and seven mates went to Ibiza for Warren's stag do. Heavy! It was so good and I think we are all saving for next years trip as I type this. We hit some bars, hit the beach, toured the island on 50cc monsters and I blaster around the bay on a hired laser, the only bit of sailing I've got in since march now which is a poor show but bare feet no shirt planing along with my sunnies on put a smile on my face.

UK got Ibiza on lock. Pete named this street The Gaza Strip, he wasn't exaggerating. I think we added the friendly touch.

Since Ibiza all is quiet. I've started a new job working for Apple Retail. It's the bomb and while I'm full time at the moment when I go back to uni I'll be working part time to tick me over in term time. Great stuff. When I've not been at work I've been riding here and there but the weather has been so bad. The list of jobs to do on my car is getting smaller but not by much, there is a long way to go, dents to pull out, rusty tailgates to replace as well as just getting her to run right. Busy times. But she looks good in the rain, in the dark, from a distance, hahaha.

Mine on the left and Baz's on the right. Wakeboarding '08.

So that brings me about up to date in the world of blogspot. More pictures up soon, I'm going to get my mobile me gallery on the go soon so I'll get the link up.

Peace

The Last Day at Junction Road.

Well, tonight will be my last night at Junction Road. The end of an era. I will no longer be a resident at 51. This was a decision that was not taken lightly but I'm confident my new house will be good for me. Beaufort Road in Broomhill will be the new residence. Plenty of sound people will be there with me, I hope this will be a good environment for studying in what will be my final year. I'm pretty sure this will also be a good environment for some parties too, so all good.

Junction Road Christmas Day. I hope I will be at the next one!

Good times guys, JR represent.

A belated winter snap.

Well, I don't know what happened to April showers but it seems all we are getting is a bit of a poor attempt at snow. I do know it's cold though. I've been labouring in a factory and when I went outside to drink my tea it was freezing! Tomorrow I'm working on some building site so I hope the sun is out.

On Friday it was my birthday and for once I was in Sheffield. This was the perfect excuse for a party and we had a BBQ at Junction Road then hit the town. Laughs were had and rum and coke was sunk. Lots of friends made it and some of them had big journeys to get here. Thank you very much guys, I loved it.

I have pretty much just got back from a month working as 2nd Engineer on Lord Nelson. It was amazing and I saw loads of mates, some that were new and some I hadn't sailed with in a while. Treats all round. Below is a photo of me at Meersbrook on Saturday. Will and I went there for a quick session in the bowl. It's rad, we had a mint time and we'll be hitting it again soon.

Till next time x
