Trans-An Time

I passed my degree! This is effectively a massive result, I got a 2.2 so I am officially a Mechanical Engineer, albeit a rogue one. In way of celebration I am sacking off any engineering and heading to the biggest of big apples, NYC. I'll be staying with my boy DC out there and I am VERY excited now. Get ready for an onslaught.

Once we've shut the whole city down I'll hop on a greyhound up to Boston to meet my pal Chris, we'll be picking up his 37ft gaf ketch, "Meander" in Portsmouth and then it's the big push east for a month of hectic adventure across the North Atlantic. Here is a chart showing our rough passage plan.

This is a pretty savage undertaking so we have to take the whole thing pretty seriously, with strict rules for water consumption as well as plenty of safety considerations. Despite wearing our serious faces so we don't come a cropper this is going to be the trip of trips for me so far, so I'm itching to get under way and start making way! Bring it on, I'm so pumped.

Needless to say we won't have internet, the odd sat phone text will update our position so it'll be a month with next to no contact with people I'm very close to. I'm going to miss you, but we'll be home before you know it.

Peace lovers x

Thesis Schmesis

Pah, I'm all over writing a long boring thesis on the possibility of introducing natural water heating solutions in India. Well I handed it in today so it's all done, which is excellent news. Perhaps I'll link up a PDF, or perhaps I won't. But I probably will, geek.

I just have my final viva presentation to go now which should blow their socks off thanks to my new and frankly over indulgent macbook, complimented by a copy of iWork 09. Keynote all up in your faces yo!

Well my friend Peden (John P, Ollie believe that!) has organised a department buffet at the haha bar so I reckon I'll have a white russian and eat some sandwiches. Nice one bru, so I'm off there now!

Peace out fools x

The Sound of Happiness

Sometimes you just come across a track that has so much to offer you fall in love with it straight away. High Contrast seems to deliver such tracks on a regular basis and upon listening to Hospital Records podcast 85 I downloaded Adele, Hometown Glory (High Contrast Remix) in anticipation of the forthcoming Confidential album.

One word, BIG! Get on itunes now!

Woof woof!

So last weekend it was my birthday, it was a pretty chilled affair compared to last years mash up. Probably for the best considering the state of things at the moment with work being busy both at uni and Apple. Anyway a few beers on Friday night, a chilled day Saturday with work for four hours followed by some scary bouldering with Bon which I loved. On Sunday a few of us went to the Notty house and had some pies, there was a cool folk jam going on so I was really happy we went. A great weekend despite a few notable absences, but I'll be seeing you guys soon believe that x

There is quite a lot of exciting stuff happening at the moment, I got a place on the Genius training scheme at work which means I'll be more and more involved with the technical side of things, something I've been super keen to get into. Then come July I'll have a short break from work so that I can bring "Meander", a 40ft classic boat belonging to my friend back to Falmouth from Maine in the USA. I seem to alternate between excitement and and nervousness, although I think this is a good thing because to view such a trip lightly would be foolish. It's 3100miles so we'll be at sea for around a month.

As well as all these treats my folks have got a new dog called Fudge, he's ever so nice and although he's young and excitable, he is super chilled once he knows who you are. I don't doubt he's going to be an awesome dog to have around the place and I'll be looking after him through August so I'm looking forward to that. Here is a photo of him Phil took last week.

The work is full on at the moment with my project write up but I'm trying to do it each day so I have evenings clear for fun stuff, no doubt it'll ramp up even more though soon. With the evenings getting lighter and lighter I'm able to ride and climb a bit in the evenings which is the best really, I love it when summer comes.

Because I'm slack I never update this thing so I managed to miss out any sort of France '09 report. Not much needs to be said except it was RAD, if a little windy for a day or two. We missed my most mainest man and heavy hitter DC. No doubt he'd have being doing fully clicked bar turns and putting his seatpost up and down all the time with his euro clamp so the French missed out, but it aint like they've never seen action like that before... next time brother. There is an edit in the making and I'll make an effort to work on it over easter so stand by to get hit hard by that. For now take in the sky and think about hitting the trails in the evening sun, picture below by Joey Gough. Table by AT.

Till the next time players x
